MANAGING PARTNER
Ashley Mattix
LCSW-C
Ashley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience working with children, families, and individuals as an agent of support and guidance. Her professional work includes a commitment to providing direct clinical practice and educating other professionals in the community on the importance of trauma-sensitive practice. Ashley obtained her Bachelor's and Master of Social Work degree from Salisbury University. She values education and continues her journey with Salisbury University as an adjunct in the School of Social Work. She enjoys providing support and education to future social workers.
Ashley has a particular passion for working with survivors of childhood trauma, with a specialization in child sexual abuse. Due to her desire to help this special population, Ashley began her clinical work as the Child/Adolescent Therapist for Cecil County’s Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Shelter and the Cecil County Child Advocacy Center. During her employment, she obtained her Certificate in Advanced Trauma Treatment at the Ferentz Institute in Pikesville, MD.
Ashley has studied many methods to bring change and healing to those in need. Ashley’s clinical practice highlights Attachment Theory, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Polyvagal Theory, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF CBT), Instinctual Trauma Response (ITR), and Internal Family Systems Theory (IFS). Ashley's clinical practice also acknowledges the importance of utilizing right and left-brain intervention when treating trauma. This is achieved through integration of expressive modalities including art, psychodrama, and sand tray in treatment.
In addition to her clinical work, Ashley is dedicated to increasing the trauma-competence of those
working with children and families. Throughout the years, she has provided several educational
trainings on childhood trauma and clinical case consultation for both professionals and community
members in Cecil County. Ashley has also served as an expert witness for the state of Maryland with
testimony on the effects of childhood trauma.
Born and raised in Cecil County, Ashley is passionate about giving back to her community. In 2022,
Ashley joined in partnership with Letha and together they are growing Changing Tides. This opportunity has given Ashley more flexibility to expand her practice and be a part of the community’s efforts to shift to a more trauma-informed lens.
